Black Friday gets all the attention. Cyber Monday is quietly the better day for most bloggers.

Here is why. Black Friday started as a shop-in-person day, so a lot of the biggest discounts are on physical things — TVs, laptops, headphones. Cyber Monday was made for online stuff. That means software, hosting, themes, plugins and courses. Which is pretty much everything a blogger actually buys.

So if you run a blog and you only have money for one shopping day, wait for the Monday.

When is Cyber Monday 2026?

Cyber Monday is always the Monday straight after Thanksgiving, which puts it at the start of the week after Black Friday.

One thing worth knowing: most companies no longer run a one-day sale. The deals usually start on the Friday and run through to the Monday night, and some stretch the whole week. So you do not have to sit refreshing a page at midnight. You normally have a few days.

What Kind of Deals Bloggers Should Look For

Web hosting

This is the big one. Hosting companies cut prices harder on Cyber Monday than at any other time of year, and the savings are real because you pay for years upfront.

The catch is the renewal price. A host might sell you the first term very cheap and then charge three or four times as much when it renews. Before you buy, find the renewal rate. If it is painful, either buy the longest term you can afford or pick a different host. Nobody tells you this part in the sales email.

Themes

A good theme is a one-time cost that affects your site speed for years. Lightweight themes are worth paying for, and this is the cheapest time to get one.

Do not buy a theme because it looks pretty in the demo. Look at how fast it loads and how much extra stuff it forces onto every page.

SEO tools

Keyword research and rank tracking tools are expensive monthly. Annual plans bought during Cyber Monday can cut that cost a lot.

Only buy one if you will actually open it every week. A tool you use twice and forget is not a deal, it is a subscription you now have to cancel.

Email marketing

If you have been meaning to start an email list, this is a good moment. Email is one of the few things you own outright. Social platforms change their rules constantly, and search results move around. Your list does not.

Plugins

Backup, security, caching, affiliate link management, forms. These are usually cheap anyway, and lifetime deals sometimes appear on Cyber Monday. A lifetime licence on a plugin you will use for years is genuinely good value.

Courses

Blogging and SEO courses go on sale too. Be honest with yourself here. Most people buy courses they never finish. Buy one, finish it, then think about the next.

How to Decide What to Actually Buy

The easiest way to waste money on Cyber Monday is to buy things because they are cheap rather than because you need them.

A simple way to avoid that: write your list before the sales start. Sit down in early November and write down what is genuinely slowing your blog down right now. Slow hosting. No email tool. No keyword research. Whatever it is.

Then when the deals land, you buy from your list and ignore everything else. If something is not on the list, you did not need it last week and you do not need it now just because it is 60% off.

Mistakes to Avoid

• Ignoring the renewal price. The first-year price is the hook. The renewal is what you actually pay long term.
• Buying tools you will not open. Cheap and unused is still wasted money.
• Paying for a long term with a host you have never tested. If you are unsure, take the shortest term that still has a decent discount.
• Forgetting the refund window. Most hosts and tools have one. Note the date so you are not stuck with something that does not work for you.
• Buying five things at once. Set them up one at a time. Five new tools in one week usually means none of them get used properly.

For hosting and software, usually yes, and often by a lot. For other things, not always. Some companies raise the normal price shortly before the sale and then discount from that. If you know what a tool usually costs, you will spot it.

Should I buy hosting for three years to get the cheapest price?

Only if you already know the host is good. A long term locks in the low price and protects you from the renewal jump, which is a real advantage. But if you have never used them, you are locking yourself in for years based on a sales page.

Hosting and a domain. That is it. Get your site online and publish for a few months before spending money on tools. Most beginner blogs fail from not publishing, not from missing software.
